Regulation 22(1)(d) of the Financial Intelligence and Anti-Money Laundering Regulations 2018 (FIAMLR) in Mauritius provides that a reporting person (a business or individual subject to the regulations) conduct an independent audit to verify compliance with and the effectiveness of their AML/CFT measures. This audit must be conducted by professionals who are not involved in the entity’s AML/CFT operations or internal controls.
